We met a friend of Julie's who lives in Istanbul. She took several days and led us all over town, to some less touristy areas, and was invaluable as a guide and shopping consultant. With her help we got to see places that were more frequented by the locals. Even then, it was crazy busy everywhere we went, and there was no shortage of shopping opportunities... everything from souvenirs to daily life goods.
Loved your pictures! This makes me very excited about our trip. Can't wait to see Hagia Sophia.....so much history there!
ReplyDeleteBeing in an organized tour for the first time (EVER!) will be a new experience, but I'm sure we will get much out of the commentary in places like Istanbul.
We won't have a laptop with us (our baggage allowances are extremely strict), so I won't post any pics until after we return. Hopefully it won't take me too long.....however....I have yet to post my pictures from the trip Kerry and I took to DisneyWorld....in DECEMBER!
